Reverend Mills graduated from Albemarle High School in 1985 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating boot camp at Parris Island, SC. he served in the Marine Reserves as a Combat Engineer from 1986 until
1993 receiving an honorable discharge, at the rank of E5 Sergeant.
In October 2008, after continuous, faithful service as a Licensed Ordained Deacon, Reverend Mills received his calling to preach the Gospel at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Charlottesville VA, where the Reverend Dr. Lehman Bates II is the Pastor. After a five-year ministerial practicum, he received his Certificate of Ordination at Ebenezer in January 2014, and graduated from the Veritas Baptist College, Fredericksburg VA, in May 2015, receiving a Certificate in Biblical Studies.
He served as an Associate Minister from 2008 to 2014 and a Pastoral Assistant at Ebenezer from 2015 to 2025 where he engaged in multiple outreach ministries which gave him opportunities to be of service to his church and the surrounding community.
His outreach services include but are not limited to: teaching and preaching the Gospel, youth ministry, prison ministry, assisting with PACEM (People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry) in feeding the homeless, assisting with annual community Thanksgiving meal giveaways, moderator at several local race and reconciliation round table events, and international outreach opportunities through the Global Faith Alliance in Saint Kitts & Nevis.
On January 17, 2026, Reverend Mills was Installed as the 16th Pastor of the Rose Hill Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Va, He is currently a part of the Coalition of Black Rural Churches in Albemarle County that started in 2025 which includes ten other local rural church bodies, and is an active member of the African American Pastor’s Council of Charlottesville, VA.
Reverend Mills and his wife Esther currently reside in Ruckersville, VA and are the parents of one adult daughter Rachel. He is also a Licensed Contractor and the Proprietor of Mills Landscaping and Handyman Service. Rev. Mills loves serving God, the people of God and seeing the power of God move in the lives of others, To God Be the Glory!
